AGF Marks Pride Month

June is Pride Month, and while we may not be together, we can still come together in celebration and support of the LGBTQ2+ community.
The events of the past year underscore the importance of all that Pride stands for – equality, dignity and embracing diversity and inclusion.
At AGF, we are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and recently took the important step of forming a Diversity and Inclusion Committee. The Committee will develop, create organizational awareness around and promote best practices related to diversity and inclusion across our firm.
While we’ve long been a leader in gender diversity, with women representing 40% of our Board and 33% of senior executive roles, Pride Month provides a timely opportunity for us all to discuss the ways in which we can better demonstrate support for our LGBTQ2+ employees and the community at large. For example, we recently changed our parental leave policy to be more inclusive, including enhanced coverage for same sex (as well as adoptive) parents. But we recognize there’s more we can do, and we look forward to productive conversations that advance this important dialogue.
In the meantime, we will continue fostering a supportive and inclusive culture in which all voices are heard, respected and valued, while ensuring everyone has an opportunity to join our team and contribute to its success. We want our employees to be their true self and to bring their whole self to the workplace.
This Pride Month (and every other month), we join the LGBTQ2+ community and allies around the world in celebrating diversity, inclusion and progress, while acknowledging that more can and must be done to raise awareness of, and advance the dialogue around, the issues and challenges the community continues to face. While we’ve made some meaningful strides this year with the formation of our Diversity and Inclusion Committee and changes to our parental leave policy, we look forward to building upon these efforts in the months and years to come.
