John Porter is Chief Investment Officer at AGF Investments Inc., where he leads global investment strategy across equities, multi-asset, and fixed income. With more than two decades of experience, he is known for building high-performing investment teams designed to succeed in today’s increasingly complex and dynamic markets. His leadership approach emphasizes innovation and collaboration, with a focus on developing differentiated investment organizations built to adapt and evolve with changing market conditions.
Most recently, John served as Chief Investment Officer at BNY Investments’ Newton Investment Management, where he led the firm’s global investment platform, overseeing approximately $100 billion in assets under management across equity, multi-asset, and fixed income strategies, and a team of more than 75 investment professionals. Prior to that, he was Equity Chief Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager, with responsibility for U.S. growth strategies. He joined the firm in 2016 as a Portfolio Manager focused on U.S. growth equities. Earlier in his career, John served as President of Seaward Management Company and Chief Investment Officer of JP3 Capital Management. He began his investment career at Fidelity Investments, where he spent 15 years as both an equity analyst and portfolio manager.
John holds an MBA in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago, as well as a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.
