Troops in Chicago as Trump Looks for a Distraction

Author: Greg Valliere

September 9, 2025

There’s only three weeks before the fiscal year ends, and neither party can decide how to wrap up a legislative package.

After saturation coverage of Jeffrey Epstein, there’s a new issue that’s dominating Washington — what to do with Chicago.

Our sources expect federal troops to head to Chicago by the end of this week, and it won’t be pretty.

The stakes are high — Democrat JB Pritzker, the state’s liberal governor, is almost certain to run for president in 2028, and this will be his springboard.

At least a dozen Democrats will run for president, and the early frontrunner — California Gov. Gavin Newsom — is hardly a shoo-in for the nomination.

Look for federal troops to occupy other cities — perhaps Baltimore, Oakland and Boston — all run by Democrats.

With the economy sagging and tariffs attracting strong criticism, Trump needs a distraction — and he’ll get it in the streets of Chicago later this fall.
